Having placed "PUBLIC SPEAKING" on my "NEVER TO DO" list, a friend asked would I share my thoughts about art & creativity. "Are you sure?" I asked. She convinced me. I agreed. I used all the physiological tools I had under my belt to take my first step, dancing with my fears and emotions but doing it anyway. I found my talk was well received. I was asked to repeat the talk to another group. I discovered I had more topics I wanted to share and discuss with others.

KAREN WILLIAMS: Speaker at 2017 APRIL Meeting. Karen’s presentation provided a lot to ponder in relation to “creativity”. She pointed out that art classification have changed, often with performing arts crossing over with visual arts and even with various changing classifications for a variety of exhibitions from the local societies. I came away with the view that too much classification these days may restrict creativity and artists should feel free to explore any and every new idea.
Art or craft? and all that creativity
Definitions of Art. Looking at grouping and classification, not just paintings- How things have changed in this area. Examples of craft becoming art. Other interesting and creative forms of art.
FEAR & The Circle of Creativity
.Oh that's a great idea......Oh this is a bit hard.....Oh this is rubbish.......Oh I'm rubbish........Oh this could work......Oh that's great. What stops us or blocks the creative process? How can we push through to complete the circle? Is the problem that "Fear" is holding hands with Perfectionism and anger instead of us "Dancing with Fear?"
Going from STUCK to STOKEDGoing from a 0 to a 10 (zero meaning I've got nothing/no ideas and 10 referring to a winning with great creativity.) Using flash cards to structure a discussion /sharing of practical tips, on how to move beyond blocks in your creative circle.
The Creative Landscape
Group discussion sharing the negatives and positives of the different areas of a creative journey as reflected in the different environments of a landscape:- Forrest, River, Mountain, Desert, Grassland.
Preforming Art
Talking with another friend I fell into another opportunity to share my art - painting on stage while he spoke on a relevant topic. My work was to illustrate his point - "Painting, just as it is in life, can start well but how does it finish?' I choose to paint a beach scene using pastels (fast to produce a descent looking painting and easy to ruin.) Starting well but ending with a mess. Near the very end I unveiled a completer pastel beach scene that was framed behind glass.
Note to self - don't do this again - too stressful and I don't prefer well with the pressure.
